News2006-11-20 - Info Just some info about something I started to work with today, so you will know what is happening if you see some changes :)
The database needs a redesign and the plan is to separate the blueprints from the items. By doing that it will be more clear if it is the bp or the item the information is about. I've planned to add item stats and it would be strange to have that connected to the bp. I'm not 100% sure how it will be displayed yet, I will do some testing to see what will be the best solution. 2006-10-18 - Fixed All resources and components/equipment with missing market prices are set to 100%. This will make the calculations more correct where the values are missing and absolutely correct for some designs that used TT items. 2006-08-29 - Bug fix Fixed a small bug in the Inventory Wizard that prevents furniture BPs to be calculated with.
All BPs are spelled with a small "b" in the "blueprint", except for the furniture BPs that are spelled with a capital "B". I did a case-sensitive search for the word "blueprint" when I identified all blueprints. It is now fixed. 2006-08-18 - New functions Two new columns have been added. Note that the appearance and functionality of them are still in beta status and will probably change. The values are not correct.
The first one is "Produce (L)" which will indicate if the produced item is limited or not. When I created the column I assumed that all limited blueprints produce limited items and vica versa which isn't correct at all, but I had to do something :)
This new column will bring some order to Bob, since I now can separate the designs from the items.
The second column is "BaseQty" which shows the minimum number of produced items in a successful crafting attempt. I set the default value for all items to 1. I need your help with getting the correct values for all components. Most items will have 1 in value since you only receive one item. The value of BaseQty is interesting when you craft components, since you get several items in return on each successful attempt. I haven't changed any of the calculations, so you have to use the BaseQty value when you calculate if it is a good design or not. I may change the calculations in the top lists to better reflect if it is good or bad to attempt to craft an item. 2006-08-18 - Discovered problem Armor parts and clothes will never get any values from peauction or mytwopecs since they are gender specific ((M) or (F) added to the name of the item) and my database doesn't support that. One solution would be to just remove the (M) or (F) and update the values for the "unisex" item, but since prices vary for (M) and (F) the value might be wrong depending on what the user is looking for... 2006-08-11 - Updated function The problem with the Inventory Wizard that some ppl has experienced is now solved. I'm using AJAX and do a post of everything that is in the texarea to another page that performs the calculations and presents the result. When the text contained the char "&" (in for example "A & P Series..."), it was interpreted as an URL parameter delimiter. I've now added an extra encoding of "&" that should solve all problems!!! 2006-07-18 - Update (lots of updates now...) Crafting Wizard was broken in IE and is now fixed.
Inventory Wizard got some extra error control which should fix current problems that some users experience.
I would also like to thank you for reporting any problems that you run into. I will fix them ASAP (mostly during the day).
Hope you are patient during the somewhat bumpy ride :D
It is really hard to handle every single list of items that can occur, but I will get there! 2006-07-17 - Update Inventory Wizard will now handle limited (L) blueprints correctly. 2006-07-16 - Update Inventory Wizard will now handle multiple stacks of the same item and add the quantities together.
I also added a "debug mode" that will show details of blueprints and materials found including quantities. If you get any problems try to use debug mode and report anything wrong to me. 2006-07-15 - Update The "Inventory Wizard" will now calculate the craftable quantities for each design. 2006-07-14 - New function The first implementation of the "Inventory Wizard" is now completed.
Paste the item list from entropiauniverse.com web site into Bob. Bob will then list what you can craft from all the resources you have and match it to the blueprints you own. No need to remember which BPs you have. Just follow the list from Bob and you can craft all day long :D
The wizard will be improved continously.
The main missing function now is that it will not consider the quantities, for example: If a design needs 10 Typonolic gas and you only own one the wizard will still think that you can craft the item - FIXED 2006-07-13 - Updated and improved function The crafting wizard has been improved. Thank you Shane for pointing out the problems and suggesting a solution.
- AJAX is now being used and that will make it much smoother. No more reloading.
- An unlimited amount of materials can now be added. 2006-07-06 - Update The calculations are now updated and everything works as it should.
I've removed the TT+ and MarketPercent columns, added a new column named Market price which will show both values. 2006-06-29 - Note I'm doing some changes in the database that effect the calculations in strange ways. Like giving way too high return rates :D
...and the values might be totally wrong too.
...but the designs will always be correct! 2006-06-27 - New function The category tables can now be sorted by columns. Just click the column you would like to sort after.
It isn't working perfectly for the items that have percentage values (i.e. resources). Just some minor problems
that you probably don't even see unless you look for them :) 2006-06-26 - New function TT+ and market percentage values are now fetched from www.peauction.com
A new green icon (i) is added to the category tables and it indicates that values are from PEAuction. It is clickable and linked directly to the item in PEAuction. In the item pages the TT+ and market percentage values are also clickable and linked directly to the item in PEAuction.
All values are updated once a day at 07:00 CET.
At the same time I added a small table below the category table that tells you what the different icons mean (the same text is also shown if you hover over the icon in the table). 2006-06-20 - New function Search item by name or part of the name. The search function will search for any part of the name that matches the entered string. There is no functionality for advanced searching with for example AND, OR, +, -. 2006-05-31 - All my sites and databases have been moved to a new Linux server in US. That will hopefully increase the performance even more.
Old Linux distribution was Redhat Linux 9 and on the new server I use Redhat Enterprise Linux 4. 2006-05-28 - I've recently noticed that people tend to mix up the ordinary blueprints with the ones that are limited. There might be some errors in the database because of that. If you find an error, please send an email to me.
Example: Anti-Grav Box, Mk.2 has the exact same design for the ordinary and limited blueprints. I don't think that is correct. Which one should be deleted? 2006-05-27 - Updates of Top Lists - Added a "View All" function that will list all entries in the selected top list, paginated to limit the number of designs shown in each page.
- Added a filter to remove the designs that will not show any interesting data. For example when the TT value is missing. 2006-04-02 - New function added:
Calculations of the return TT/TT cost, return TT/Market cost, return TT+/TT cost, return TT+/Market cost showing the return rate if you manage to craft items with full TT value. The values might seem a little odd for the equipment/components, but that is caused by that you receive more than one item for each successful attempt.
Note that if the TT+ value isn't know, only the TT value will be used and the result for return TT+ will be the same as return TT.
Some of the results that might be interesting. The calculations are updated each day so some minor changes may occur from day to day:
These results and more will later today be found in the Top Lists page

Best return TT+/Market cost: Armor level 6 Armor Plating Mark.6A 1218% 2006-03-28 - I've added a PayPal donation button and Google ads to decrease the hosting costs for Bob the Builder. I hope that they are not too disturbing for you.
Thank you for your support 2006-02-15 - The Market Cost value bug I discovered 8th February is now completely solved. The correct Market Cost value is now shown in both the type/category and item pages.
Solution: I created a new table called item_calculations where all values (TT, TTplus, marketPercent, craftCostTT, craftCostMarket) are kept. The TTplus and marketPercent values are updated from http://www.mytwopecs.com at 07:00 CET each morning. Immediately after that update I run a second script that pre-calculates craftCostTT and craftCostMarket and insert the values into the table in 3 steps; first the values for resources, then the values for the components/equipment, and finally the values for the items. Each step uses the values from the previous step(s). That table is then used in looking up the correct values.
My first approach was to create database triggers, but I thought it was a too complex solution since I've never used triggers before. 2006-02-14 - The small bug I discovered in the last update is fixed in the type pages (the lists with each category of items), but not yet in the item pages. 2006-02-08 - I've added the types Mineral Ore and Raw Energy Matter to Bob, since EMT kit Ek-2350 uses Magerian mist (unrefined enmatter).
Added a TT+ function that will show the TT+value if it is available at http://www.mytwopecs.com
The TT+value will also be included into the Market Cost. First item to use this is the Robot Beacon (L).
Changed back the news section to the old one-column-style.
Added all new items (not designs) after VU8.1
I just discovered a small bug:
The Market cost value will not be correct when a design contains constructed items like components/equipment. 2006-01-09 - Making minor design changes to try out a new layout. 2006-01-07 - Added Misc items as a new type since I needed to put Robot gyro into the database which is used in crafting Robot Beacons. Maybe Misc Items will be divided into sub-categories later on when more Misc items are used in the designs. |
